Administrator

The Administrator is the most senior user of ERPNext, with complete and Unrestricted access to the entire system. This function is higher than that of the System Manager and can override any restriction or permission.

 

Although a System Manager has access to most of the configuration and user management options, the Administrator has full control over all the modules, settings, and backend processes. The Administrator makes sure that ERPNext runs smoothly and according to the requirements of the organization.

1. Cloud-Hosted Accounts (Frappe Cloud / Frappe Technologies)

  • If your ERPNext account is hosted on Frappe Cloud, you are not able to access the Administrator account directly.
  • The reason:
    • Numerous customers are hosted on the same server.
    • Administrator access is limited for security and upgrade administration.
    • Frappe uses the Administrator login internally to install updates and manage all hosted accounts.
  • Exception: If you acquire a sizeable number of users and your ERPNext setup is hosted in a dedicated server, you can request outright Administrator access.

2. Self-Hosted / On-Premises Accounts

  • For self-hosted ERPNext implementations, the Administrator credentials are handed over to the organization.
  • This provides you with complete control over users, permissions, and system configurations without limitations.
