Maintenance of Assets in ERPNext refers to a formal and automated process to manage the complete life cycle of business assets. From acquiring to disposing, ERPNext allows for precise tracking and maintenance of Tangible and intangible assets.
Representation of assets will have given assets entries involving essential entries such as date of acquisition, gross purchase price, location of assignment, custodian, and selection method of depreciation. After recording that an asset requires some maintenance by ticking the Maintenance Required check box in the asset, ERPNext allows one to plan and schedule the service intervals well in advance.
The system allows for preventive maintenance and calibration scheduling based on a calendar periodicity (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Half-yearly, Yearly, 2 Yearly or 3 Yearly). Every maintenance task can be assigned to a particular user, so responsibilities are delegated clearly. This ensures accountability and proper tracking of every maintenance job.
ERPNext also keeps maintenance logs for each asset, collecting detailed information such as type of maintenance, completion date, actions performed (for example, parts replaced) and the person assigned. Repair costs are recorded through Asset Repair. Not only do these logs serve to maintain service history, but they also produce a strong audit trail for compliance as well as internal reviews.
